The immediate difference between a Cloud 9 Air Mattress Beds topper pads and a new Tempur-Pedic® mattress or Tempur-Pedic® 3" overlay, is PRICE! You can achieve your desired comfort level and get a Quality product for a fraction of the price that you would pay for a Tempur-Pedic®.
The price difference is fairly large when comparing the actual products. Tempur-Pedic's® foam is a bit denser than our topper pads - 5.35lb/cu foot density vs. our pad's 5.1lb/cu ft density. Density is measured on what a cube of each material would weigh, where the cube was a foot in each dimension. (Note: most regular store bought foam topper pads often weigh from 1/2 to 1 pound per cubic foot, which shows the High Quality of these visco-elastic foams, they truly are at the top of the industry!)
So the density difference is slight, but since higher density foam does utilize a bit more raw material and Tempur-Pedic® gets their material from all around the world, this might account for a bit of the price difference between Tempur-Pedic® and Cloud 9 Air Mattress Beds' topper pads. Cloud 9 Air Mattress Beds only uses Foamex, Sensus™ a highly trusted industry name and guaranteed 100% Made in the USA. This is definitely one main reason that saves our customer’s some money in the end. But not only do we carry a 5.1 lb/cu ft topper, we also offer our Cloud 9 Air Mattress Beds memory foam mattress toppers in densities of 3, 4, and 5 pounds and thicknesses of 1, 2, 3, and 4 inches giving you the ability to find the exact comfort feeling you’re looking for.
How does the Cloud 9 Air Mattress Beds Mattress Topper pad compare to the inexpensive memory foam pad I saw on television?
It is very difficult to compare these pads to the Cloud 9 Air Mattress Beds Talalay Latex and Sensus Memory Foam mattress topper pad since they come in so many densities, thicknesses, and cuts (cut flat like our pad, cut in an egg crate cut, or cut in a zone pattern). Many of these pads aren't as dense as our pad, and this can make a big difference in comfort and durability. And to make it worse, many of these less dense pads actually cost more (the cost of advertising really drives up the costs of these lower quality pads). I personally feel that a flat cut pad, either Latex or Memory Foam is preferable to a zone cut or egg crate cut pad. Talalay Latex and Sensus Memory Foam both naturally conform to your body and provide real skeletal alignment and pressure relieving properties, that just doesn’t exist with an egg crate or zone cut (whose sole purpose is to soften certain areas of foam).
Are there instructions for how I should unpack my Latex or memory Foam Mattress topper or pillow and care and use instructions for these products as well??
- Unpacking Your Memory Foam Product
Most mattress toppers are machine rolled and compressed for efficient delivery. These Memory Foam Mattress Pads and Talaly Latex Mattress Pads are made of the highest quality Visco Elastic Foam and Talalay Latex Foam available. So, being folded and or machine rolled will not affect its performance, but it may require 24 to 72 hours to regain its full shape.
Do not use scissors or any sharp object when removing the plastic cover. Exercise care and remove the plastic cover by hand. Gently pull the compressed product to unroll it. If you notice a slight odor when the package is opened, it is normal for “fresh foam” and will fade away in couple of days. Gently separate the layers by using a slow, steady, uniform pulling motion. Caution must be exercised, to avoid tearing the foam. Once unrolled, allow it to recover naturally before making up your bed. Simply center the Memory Foam Topper directly on top of the mattress and cover both with the same fitted sheet. If you have an overstuffed or pillow top mattress, you may require deep pocket sheets to cover the Memory Foam Mattress Pad.
Note: Due to our manufacturing processes, the Talalay Process for the Latex and the VPF process for the Sensus Memory Foam, very little if any odor should be appearent. If you notice an odor, try following the tips for airing out mattress toppers.
Cleaning: Simply spot wash by hand with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse and gently wring out. Allow product to air dry prior to use. Do not machine wash or dry.
Safety: Fire safety precautions should always be followed. You may use an electric blanket, but be sure it is in good working condition and UL approved with no visible wear or frayed wiring.
Tips for Airing out the Mattress Topper Pads
- You can air out new Mattress Topper Pads in a spare room with the windows open for fresh air. Turn the mattress topper pad accordingly to air both sides.
- Mattress Topper Pads seem to air out more quickly with a fan blowing on them, so place the pad over a chair or railing with the fan blowing on it, and turn the pad over in the morning to air out both sides equally. This takes care of the odor, for the most part, within a day or two and then it should be ready to go on your bed.
- After you begin to use the Topper Pad, you can take care of any residual odor by airing it out in the same manner during the day and then putting the mattress pad back on your bed at night. In our experience, this takes care of any such residual odor in a few days. A less desirable option is airing the Topper Pad outside for a day or two, but you need to be careful about any dirt or moisture outside that may damage the Topper Pad.
- For your pillow, you might want to roll it up and release it, this will help alleviate any odor. Obviously you can air them out as described above as well. If you still have any remaining odor, try putting a laundry sheet (Bounce Sheet) between the pillow and your pillowcase or liner, this will help make any odor less noticeable until the odor is completely gone.
